Do you lack motivation sometimes? How to be always motivated?

"There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and burning desire to achieve it" - NAPOLEON HILL

Be clear with your goals:

The number one reason why some people get more work done faster than others is because they are absolutely clear about their goals and objectives, and they don't deviate from them. The greater clarity you have regarding what you want, steps you have to take to achieve it, the easier it will be to get done with your tasks and you'll accomplish more in lesser time.

A very small fraction of the entire working population have their goals written down on paper, and this is the fraction that can accomplish five to ten times as much as people with equal or better qualifications. So, write your goals BOLD and CLEAR on a plain sheet of paper.

Make your goals "S.M.A.R.T":

S.M.A.R.T stand for:

  • S - Specific: The more specific you'll be with what you want, the more likely you are to achieve that. Don't just write your goal as, for example, I want to become rich, write the how's and why's behind that goal, decide your own path to YOUR SUCCESS.

  • M - Measurable: Make your goals such that you can measure the progress, like, read 15 books in the next year (again, be specific, which 15 books?), or complete 40 projects, etc. The reason behind making your goals measurable is that you can see your progress clearly, and as long as you can see your progress clearly, you're much less likely to fall back and quit.

  • A - Achievable: Consider the goals that you can achieve, even if there is nothing in this world that one can achieve, but you should make more goals about what you can achieve in the near future, and your ultimate goal can be anything.

  • R- Relevant: Relevancy of your goal will decide the position you'll be in when you achieve your goal, so select your goals according to your priority and choose goals that can benefit you in the long term.

  • T - Time-Bound: This is a great time management hack, if you pressurize yourself by making your goals time-bound, then you're much more likely to work towards your goals. Deadlines just make you work a little harder to achieve a little more, and that little more when accumulated over a long period can make real difference.

The 7-step approach to accomplish goals:

These steps are taken from the international best-seller book by Brain Tracy named - "Eat that frog".

  1. Decide exactly what you want : Be crystal clear about your goals and objectives.
  2. Write it down : This is important because unwritten goals lead to confusion, vagueness, misdirection and numerous mistakes.
  3. Set a deadline on your goals, set sub-deadlines if necessary: This tip can be confirmed using Parkinson's theorem ( Work expands so as to fill the time required for its completion ).
  4. Make a list of everything you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goals : It gives you a track to work upon. Also it tremendously increases chances of achieving goals.
  5. Organise the list into a plan : Organise list by priorities, decide what needs to be done first. The best way to organise your goals is to make a flow chard which can remind you of the steps required for achieving your goal.
  6. Take action on your plan : Execute your plan, fix time to work on a particular goal in your schedule.
  7. Resolve to do something every single day that moves you towards your major goal : Fitting this activity in your daily schedule can change everything, Persistence is everything.

What exactly you need to do?

Just follow these steps if you want to get the benefit of everything written in this blog:

  1. Take a clean sheet of paper right now and make a list of ten goals you want to accomplish in the next year.
  2. Review your list of ten goals and select the one goal that if you achieved it would have the greatest positive impact on your life.
  3. Whatever that goal is, write it on a separate sheet of paper, make a plan, set a deadline for each step, take action on your plan and do something every single day that moves you toward that goal. This exercise alone can change your life.

In the end, I just want to say that the more you think about your goals, the greater becomes your inner drive and your desire to accomplish them.
